Is Starbucks Open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2026?
Most Starbucks cafes are open on Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24, 2026, often with earlier closing times. Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, is less certain. Many standalone stores close or cut hours, while airport, hotel and grocery store locations follow their host’s schedule. Starbucks has not announced 2026 holiday hours yet, so check the app before you go.
Hours differ because some stores are company run and others are licensed. A Starbucks inside a store, hotel or airport keeps the schedule of that building. You can browse regular drinks on our Starbucks menu with prices page, and the seasonal drinks in our Starbucks holiday menu guide.
Is Starbucks Open on Christmas?
Last year (2025), reports said Starbucks hours vary by location and that most stores were open on December 24. For December 25, coverage was mixed. Several news roundups only said hours vary and told readers to use the app or store locator. A 2026 holiday schedule from a finance site also says most stores are open on major holidays, but hours vary widely and some close early for Christmas.
In short, “is starbucks open on christmas” has no one-line answer. Expect some stores open, some closed, and many on shorter hours.
Starbucks Hours on Christmas Eve 2026
Search for “starbucks hours christmas eve” and you will see the same advice: stores are mostly open but may close early. Cafes in malls, grocery stores and offices often close sooner, because the host building does. Drive-thru stores tend to have the longest hours. Plan your visit for the morning if you need a drink or a gift card for a teacher or neighbor.
Is Starbucks Open Christmas Day?
Some are, many are not. Plan on these patterns:
| Type of Starbucks | Christmas Eve (Dec 24) | Christmas Day (Dec 25) |
|---|---|---|
| Standalone cafe or drive-thru | Usually open, may close early | Varies; some closed, some on short hours |
| Mall or shopping center | Follows mall hours | Often closed if the mall is closed |
| Grocery store or Target cafe | Follows the store’s hours | Follows the store; many close early or are closed |
| Airport or hotel | Often open | Often open, with hours set by the host |
These are general patterns, not official hours. We did not find a Starbucks statement listing exact times, so we do not give any.
Drive-Thru, Mobile Order and Delivery
- Drive-thru: Cafes with a drive-thru are the likeliest to run on a holiday.
- Mobile order: The Starbucks app shows each store’s hours for the day. It will not let you order from a closed store.
- Delivery: Works only if the store is open and a courier is available. Holiday demand can slow it down.
- Gift cards: You can still add funds and send an e-gift in the app, even when stores are closed.
What to Expect on the Menu
The holiday drinks usually stay on the menu through the season. See our Starbucks holiday menu for the current list. Bakery cases may run low late in the day, and a store on short hours may sell out of popular items early.
Other Coffee Options on Christmas
If your Starbucks is closed, check Dunkin’, Dutch Bros or McDonald’s, which sells coffee at most stores. All of them vary by location. Gas stations such as Wawa and Sheetz often keep long hours as well, but call first.
Company Stores vs. Licensed Stores
This split explains most of the confusion. Company-run cafes set their own holiday plans, and they often cut hours or close so staff can be with family. Licensed cafes sit inside other businesses, so their hours match the business. A Starbucks in a grocery store may close at the same time as the store pharmacy counter, while one in an airport may stay open for travelers. When two Starbucks sit close together, compare both in the app, because one may be open when the other is not.
Keep a backup plan if you need coffee for guests. Whole bean bags, ground coffee and instant packs from the grocery shelf work well on a day when cafes are closed. Buy them before December 24 so you are not stuck on Christmas morning.
How to Check Your Store
- Open the Starbucks app and tap your store.
- Look at the hours for December 24 and 25.
- If the store is at an airport, hotel or grocery store, check that host’s holiday schedule too.
- Look again the day before, since stores can change plans.
